Dimitris Papageorgiou is a violinist, improviser, and composer from Athens currently based in Edinburgh. He has a diploma in classical violin performance, and diplomas in advanced music theory (harmony, counterpoint, fugue) from Greek conservatories. He also holds a BSc degree in physics from the National University of Athens. In 2012 he completed the MMus in Composition from the University of Edinburgh, and since then he is studying towards a PhD in Music.
As a violinist he has performed with various ensembles ranging from Classical music, Greek folk/Middle Eastern music, Jazz/World music, and free-improvisation collectives. As a performer of improvised music, he creates sounding textures both by re-examining and extending the sound making possibilities of his violin, and by reviewing modal improvisation practices, with a special interest in Middle-Eastern makam music. His works have been presented in Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, UK, and US.
Sintra based Irish multi instrumentalist Dave Boyd plays a wide range of hand percussion - and is a highly regarded musical director, producer and charismatic live performer and educator. His career embraces performance, recording and composing in theatre, dance, film and television, combined with extensive international touring and teaching.
He has worked with, among others, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Abbey Theatre Dublin, BBC, Retina Dance Company, Scottish Ballet, Edinburgh Festival Theatre, The Roundhouse London, The Festival of World Cultures, British Council India, English National Opera, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, Glasgow UNESCO City of Music and is a member of the teaching staff at Tamburi Mundi Festival and and Artistic Director of Frame Drums Atlantic.
Balázs plays Contrabass and Fretless Bass Guitar in most diverse styles. He's been performing music since age 16 and has been involved with a long line of groups, including classical, jazz, metal, folk and creative music formations. He's been recording and performing with groups such as Gire, Samling, Lipsync for a Lullaby, Tamás Kátai's Thy Catafalque and Real Dave to name but a few. Past performances include European tours of concert venues and festivals, Live appearance on BBC Radio Scotland, touring with Flashes Improvisative Theather in Hungary and many more. He's presently playing with, Irish/Hungarian traditional five-piece Dallahan, Jazz pianist William Pickvance and Bobok Russian gypsy band.
